The world famous Tan Hill Inn is situated at the northern most point of the Yorkshire Dales National Park at the top of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale, North Yorkshire. Unique in so may ways, Tan Hill has so much to offer. We are the highest Inn in Great Britain and as such can provide you with a 'top of the world' experience. Nestled at the top of the northern Pennine Moors and at the far northern border of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, although in North Yorkshire, the borders with Cumbria and County Durham are only a stone's throw away. The remote location adds to the unique character of what is Great Britain's highest Inn at 1732 feet above sea level. Helicopter coming into Tan Hill Inn

We can cater for intimate Weddings, Civil Ceremonies, Commitment Ceremonies and Renewal of Vows Ceremonies in our cosy dining room.... or for parties of up to 200, in our newly refurbished 'barn' venue. We can offer you a bespoke service and provide you with a Special Day to truly remember for the rest of your lives together. With a traditional 'rustic' feel together with modern facilities, it is the ideal location to hold your special celebration of commitment to one another.

We can arrange for the venue of your choice to be decorated to your requirements with flowers, table centre settings and candles. We can also arrange music to suit all tastes from a background pianist to a full blown rock and roll band. Catering can be as simple or as extravagant as you like. It is your day and we aim to make it the most special one of your life so far. Transport to and from the venue can also be arranged in advance from wedding cars to helicopters, from tracked military vehicles to a horse and trap. It is up to you... let your imagination run wild and we'll see what we can do to make your dreams come true.

The Tan Hill Inn is famous for many reasons, including, in 1995, becoming the first Public House to obtain a licence to hold wedding ceremonies under new laws that allow people to marry in places other than a church or registry office. North Yorkshire is now regarded as the most popular location to get married outside the Church in Great Britain. Civil Ceremonies
Tan Hill Inn is the ideal place for Civil Ceremonies for all couples. We guarantee that we will look after all your needs. We have a reputation for being helpful, accepting and ensuring that everyone will feel 'at home' in our friendly welcoming environment and free to express themselves in an open and loving way. It is your day and our only aim is to make sure that it is the most special day of your lives together so far.

We have two venues for Civil Ceremonies at Tan Hill. Firstly, for smaller intimate parties of up to 30 guests we have our traditionally decorated dining room complete with open fire . Secondly, we have our 'barn' venue with plenty of room for 200 guests. With a traditional 'rustic' feel together with modern facilities it is the ideal location to hold your special celebration of commitment to one another.

Why Not Consider A Commitment Ceremony?
Not married but would like to make a public demonstration of your commitment to each other? The new choice for couples, a Commitment Ceremony is a meaningful and dignified ceremony for adult couples. The purpose of the ceremony is to make a public declaration of life-long commitment, love and dedication between two people. The occasion can be shared with family and friends or, if you prefer, the ceremony can be held without guests. These ceremonies are held by a professional celebrant, but are not religious and hold no legal status.

Why Not Consider A Renewal Of Marriage Vows?
Already married but would like to say 'I do'....again? Ceremony? The ceremony is for any married couple that wish to celebrate renewing their marriage vows in a unique and personal ceremony.
